We asked

We asked you for feedback on our design proposals to improve the play area in Haggerston Park.

78 local children, young people and families fed into the design process, helping to shape a set of designs to take out to public consultation. A further 103 people fed back on the design proposals, which included making it bigger, adding more equipment so that it appeals to a wider age range of children and making it more accessible.

We did

As a result of the consultation we have made a number of design changes adding trees for shade and more equipment for older children, including more swings to create spaces where they can hang out and have fun as well as the play area’s younger users.

Work is planned to begin on building the play area spring 2022.

Overview

In 2020 we developed a new 10 year Parks and Green Spaces Strategy, which includes a commitment to investing in and improving the borough's parks and to working with children, young people and their families to improve them.

So far in 2021 we have already started work to consult and engage people on projects to improve play in Clissold Park and Clapton Pond and funding has also been approved for a further four sites: Butterfield Green, Clapton Square, Haggerston Park and Stoke Newington Common.

Why your views matter

Our plans for Haggerston Park include include making it bigger, adding more equipment so that it appeals to a wider age range of children and making it more accessible. We would love to hear what you think..

If you live around Haggerston Park or use the play area we’d love your feedback to help shape the final set of designs for the play area.

Due to the current social distancing restrictions we aren’t able to run design and feedback sessions with children, families and schools in the way we usually do. If you have children in your home we’d love to hear what they think of the designs. Please include their views when completing the survey.
