Hackney Green Infrastructure Strategy

Overview

We are consulting on the draft Hackney Green Infrastructure Strategy. This strategy brings together the Council’s aims and objectives for the borough’s green infrastructure to ensure that it is planned, designed and managed to better meet our commitments to addressing the impacts of climate change, poor health and biodiversity loss.

Green infrastructure is integral and essential to the borough’s resilience, meeting its future challenges and the delivery of its wider strategies, both at a community and individual level.

The strategy’s draft objectives aim to:

• improve health and well being;

• be more resilient to the impacts of climate change;

• reduce deficiency in green open space; and

• increase ecological connectivity.

We would like to hear your views on the strategy in order to develop a more integrated approach to protecting and enhancing green infrastructure.

Please note that if the draft Green Infrastructure Strategy is adopted following consultation, the new draft Local Nature Recovery Plan (LNRP) will be one of the operational plans underpinning the strategy, alongside the Hackney Parks and Green Spaces Strategy and forthcoming Urban Forest Plan. The LNRP has been developed in conjunction with key external stakeholders with biodiversity expertise.
