Overview

St Thomas’ Long Burial Ground is a small green space on Well Street between Frampton Park Estate and St Thomas’ Place in Homerton. Currently there is no entrance gate from Well Street into the green space, and the only entrances are halfway down the narrow alleyway in St Thomas’ Place and one at the back of the park leading onto St Thomas’s Square.

Through our Parks & Green Spaces Strategy, Hackney is committed to creating welcoming spaces. This includes opening up our parks and green spaces so they are more accessible and can be enjoyed by everyone living and working in the borough.

We are looking to create a new entrance into the green space on Well Street, so people can access it from the front rather than walking along the narrow alleyway. The Well Street entrance will create a new and wider path through the green space linking up with the existing pathway to the back gate on St Thomas’ Square. We will also look to improve the back gate into the park.

Due to the nature of the green space with its mature trees and graves, we will not be carrying out any major improvements, other than to the entrances and some minor landscaping to make it more welcoming.
