Overview
Hackney Council is consulting on proposals to close or amalgamate (merge) six primary schools.
The proposals have been developed due to the significant fall in pupil numbers in primary schools in Hackney. This downward trend is also happening across London.
The six schools identified for amalgamation or closure have all experienced falling rolls and as a result have received less government funding for them to operate effectively. Over time, falling rolls creates increasing financial pressure on schools.
For full details of the consultation proposals view the consultation documents below. You can share your views and comments on the proposals until 16 July 2023.
At the end of this consultation period, Hackney Council will make a decision on whether to issue a statutory notice on the proposals. This is likely to be in September or October of this year.
