What we’re doing

London Fields Lido is a hugely popular and much-loved local facility, welcoming over 340,000 visitors last year. We are proposing to make improvements to make the facility even better and able to be enjoyed by more people with the development of a new teaching pool in addition to the existing pool.

Why we’re doing it

We’re committed to improving the quality of the leisure facilities throughout Hackney, for example, the new award-winning state-of-the-art Britannia Leisure Centre in Hoxton. 

But we know that we’re not currently catering to all sections of the community who live near London Fields Lido, and across the borough, there’s a shortage of swimming facilities. The new teaching pool will cater for younger and less confident swimmers to learn to swim.

How we’re doing it

In early 2023 we held a series of drop-in sessions to get feedback from the local community and users of the lido. We have used your views to update the plans and have now submitted a planning application and common land application.
