Dalston Themed Workshops and Walkabouts

Closed 26 Feb 2019

Opened 29 Jan 2019

Overview

Thank you for your interest in attending this series of workshops which will enhance our work around the Dalston Conversation and help to inform our initial ideas for emerging planning and regeneration documents for Dalston town centre.

The Council value local and stakeholder input and we would welcome your participation in the themed workshops below.  The aim of these workshops is to discuss and gather feedback on our initial ideas and we will share with you the various studies and commissioned research that has helped to direct them. The workshops will provide you with an opportunity to explore these ideas in more detail and provide feedback to the team before we embark on any further work.

Each workshop will last around two hours and will start with a walk-about of the area, followed by a short presentation and ending with a discussion and feedback session with participants.

Workshop 1 – Streets, open spaces and connections

19 February, 4pm - 6ppm

This workshop will look at local priorities for connectivity and open spaces in Dalston. We will discuss how we can better use existing walking routes, open spaces and connections in the town centre, and how people and traffic could move around Dalston in the future.

This event will be co-run by Allies & Morrison Architects and Studio Weave who have been commissioned to look at how space in Dalston can better connect its residents, businesses and transport. During the event we will give participants a short tour of the area followed by a presentation at a local venue by Allies & Morrison on their findings of the study. Participants will be able to give their feedback and comments as part of the session.

Workshop 2 – What makes Dalston unique? Understanding economic and social value in the town centre

21 February, 4pm - 6pm

This workshop will look at how we can ensure Dalston’s unique mix of creative and cultural industries and community spaces can be incorporated into future plans for the area and how the Council can protect their presence in Dalston.
