Pavement licence objection form

Overview

Pavement licences have been introduced by government to facilitate the safe reopening of eligible hospitality establishments as Covid-19 lockdown measures are being relaxed.

The licence grants businesses permission to place tables and chairs on certain public footways and highways adjacent to the premises that made the application for the sale of food and drink, or for the consumption of food and drink sold by the relevant premises. 

Prior to the granting of a licence a consultation period of seven days is conducted to allow the public to raise any objections to the granting of a pavement licence. The seven day consultation period starts on the day after the day the application has been submitted to the Council. It includes weekend days, but excludes public holidays.

What happens next

After the consultation period has ended the Council has five working days to consider any objections and make a decision regarding the granting of a licence. To see a list of pavement applications, click here.
