Consultation on Hackney's Draft Single Equality Scheme 2018-21
Overview
The Single Equality Scheme is Hackney Council's strategy for making sure the borough becomes a fairer and more equal place to live and work.
Hackney is changing fast. The population has increased by a third since 2000, there are more affluent people, house prices have doubled since 2010.
Most people are statisfied with the borough as a place to live, but there are growing inequalities.
Mayor Philip Glanville has made ‘tackling inequality’ the first of his five priorities, but resources are increasingly stretched - Government grants will have fallen by 45% by 2019-20 from 2010-11 levels (£171m compared with £310m).
We want to know whether the priorities we have chosen and the activities we have set out for the next three years are the right ones, whether we have missed anything out and whether there is anything that needs more consideration.
Please read the Single Equality Scheme (see link under 'Related' below) and complete the survey.
We are also holding a workshops on the Single Equality Scheme - those who attend will be awareded a £20 Love2Shop voucher as a thank you for taking part.
All residents are invited to register to attend the workshops, however we have specific ones for residents who identity as Trans & Non-binary, residents who live in Council or Housing Association homes, and residents with learning difficulties. Click here to register for the workshops.
If you require a print copy of the Single Equality Scheme and survey or have any other queries, please contact Rachel Salmon on 0208 356 7732 or e-mail: rachel.salmon@hackney.gov.uk.
