Empowering London Fields
Overview
The Community gangs Team (CGT) ran a project in February 2022 called the CRiSP (Clarence Road and Surrounds Project), and in Feb 2024 a project called the MaSS (Mandeville and Surrounding Streets) Project, with the aim of reducing gang-related violence and ASB, as well as improving the quality of life of local residents.
We are now undertaking a similar project in the south west London Fields area and we believe that your help and local knowledge would greatly increase the effectiveness of this new project.
The Empowering London Fields (ELF) Project has the following objectives:
- Reduce Crime, ASB and gang-related serious violence in the target area
- Develop new links and reinforce existing links with the local community
- Build a stronger intelligence picture of the area and local gang dynamics and networks
- Improve quality of life for the local community
Why your views matter
We are extremely interested in working with the local community to address their specific needs. We will be looking to hold a community meeting to hear concerns, take questions and co-design solutions in July 2024.
Previous projects of this nature have included support from many departments across the council, partner agencies (e.g. Police, DWP) and third sector organisations. We anticipate leaning on these resources for this project as well and hope to include as many community organisations as we can to make the project truly effective for local people.
