Connecting Hoxton Design Consultation

Closes 18 Jan 2026

PACKAGE 3 - Ministry of Stories Forecourt

Objective: Cherishing & supporting Hoxton’s young and old

Current situation

Hoxton Monster Supply is the shopfront for the Ministry of Stories, a local charity that runs creative writing workshops for children and young people nearby. It is a cherished part of Hoxton’s community and a valuable piece of social infrastructure.

Currently, parents and carers waiting for children have very little space to gather before or after sessions. The following improvements would help the charity operate more comfortably while enhancing the look and feel of the street.

Design ideas

  • Awning and fold-down benches – to create a small waiting area for participants, parents and carers. This would make the Hoxton Street market feel more active and welcoming.
  • Parklet – to provide a larger outdoor waiting space that includes greenery and planting. (Optional deliverable, subject to budget allocation.)
