Championing Organisations & Businesses Delivering Social Value In Hoxton

Overview

People consistently told us how important local organisations, cultural venues and community-focused businesses are to life in Hoxton. These spaces support wellbeing, creativity, learning and social connection, but many said they are not always easy to find, access or feel confident using.

This theme focuses on strengthening Hoxton’s social infrastructure and making it easier for people to connect with the places and services that support them.

This theme focuses on:

  • Supporting organisations and businesses that deliver social value
  • Improving visibility, access and connections to local services and activities
  • Reducing isolation and supporting wellbeing across the community

Projects linked to this theme

Phase 1 pilot projects

  • Shoreditch Library Entrance: Improvements to visibility, planting and public space outside the library

Phase 2 main projects

  • Hoxton Hall – Social Lobby: Creating a free, welcoming indoor social space for local people of all ages
  • Wilks Place Transformation: Improving lighting, surfaces and space for arts and community activity along this historic route

This theme reflects what we heard from local organisations and residents about the need to better support the places that hold communities together.
