Hackney Council is committed to ensuring the safety of everyone living in its homes. As part of this we also have a legal obligation to develop a plan for people living in our blocks of seven storeys or more to ensure they know what to do in the event of a fire or any other potential safety issue.
Under the new Building Safety Act 2022 we have to ensure you are informed about any potential safety risks in your building, and are provided with the resources you need to play an active role in helping us keep the blocks as safe as possible.
This is why we are asking you to have your say on what you think the fire safety issues are in your block. We also need to check how you want us to talk to and listen to you on safety issues in the future. Please take a few moments to complete the short survey below to help us develop a bespoke plan for your block.
We also wanted to remind you that as part of our responsibilities as your landlord we need to carry out annual inspections of your front doors to ensure they continue to help keep you safe by meeting the necessary fire regulations.
The Council is currently in the process of replacing around 2,500 front doors in blocks of flats of ten storeys or higher to provide even greater protection in the event of a fire.
We will be inspecting all front entrance doors which are older than one year. If you have any issues with your front door please contact us on 020 8356 5558.
Your safety is of the utmost importance to us, and we appreciate your cooperation in helping us create a safe and secure environment for everyone.
