Orwell Court and Welshpool Street - Garage and Storage Questionnaire
Overview
As part of the Orwell Court garages and Welshpool Street Depot and car park development project, we are conducting a specific survey to gather information on how you currently use your existing garage space to inform the design for the site.
Background
Orwell Court and Welshpool Street depot and car park is one of fourteen sites identified as part of Hackney Council’s New Homes Programme. In December 2022, the Council approved plans to appoint a design team to work up plans for the sites. The programme aims to deliver 400 new homes, with 75% designated as council homes for social rent. This initiative is part of the Council’s commitment to build 1,000 new council homes for social rent by 2026. Our goal is to address the housing shortage and provide high-quality, genuinely affordable homes prioritised for local residents and those who need them.
Public Engagement for Design Proposals
In addition to this questionnaire, Hackney Council is organising a separate public engagement session open to everyone. During these sessions, the architects will present their initial designs for Orwell Court garages and Welshpool Street depot and car park. Your feedback during these sessions will directly influence the design of the new homes and the surrounding neighbourhood.

Location:
Both sessions will be held under a gazebo on Benjamin Close.
